The Craftsman's Role

You have now watched the introduction video where a researcher, a politician, and a role model working with reuse have shared their perspectives on why vocational educations are important, and how the education can be used to make a difference.

The purpose of the following tasks is for you and your class to consider and reflect on the importance of the craftsman in society and the craftsman's role in relation to the environment.

You can now answer questions below. Make sure to write down your answers so you can refer to them later. You may copy the questions into a document for easy recording of your responses.

1. Work independently (15 min.)

  • Describe the reason for choosing a vocational education. Is there anything from the video that relates to why you want to be a craftsman?
  • In your own words, describe the craftsman's role in society and identify three areas in society where the craftsman plays a crucial role.
  • Imagine explaining the term environment to your friend without using the word environment. Write down your explanation.
  • What environmental aspects are important to you? This can be within your profession, your daily life, or the world in general.

2. With a classmate (5 min.)

  • Share your answers with your classmate.
  • Do you have answers or views in common?

3. Describe on your own: How can craftsmen participate in the development? (10 min.)

  • How do you think someone with a vocational education can contribute to improving the environment? Write down at least two situations where the craftsman can help improve the environment.
  • What is necessary for you - and craftsmen in general - to contribute most effectively to improving the environment?

4. Presentation for the class (10 min.)

  • Present some of your best answers to the class from the first two tasks. Did you and your classmates have anything in common?
  • Discuss in class how craftsmen can contribute to improving the environment and what is needed ensure this in the future.
